Review Title:: Learned to fly out there in 1979..

Review: My flight instructor would have me fly out to Giant Rock from Yucca Valley's Hi-Desert airport on Saturday mornings. We would shoot a few landings then go into the restaurant for pie and coffee. That restaurant was the stopping off place for military Chinook pilots from nearby Marine bases, eccentric homebuilt aircraft drivers and the occasional buddies out for the $100 hamburger. The rooms under the rock were intact then and you could go in a visit. I remember how cool it stayed there year round. I learned a lot about flying out there in the desert. Always thought I would take a return trip back to the airports from my youth. It is sad to see what has become of a great old airfield.
