Today I departed Boerne, Texas for Livingston Texas. Got a slow start because of the change in Daylight Savings Time and a client was having a problem with a new Blog program I installed for him. And the weather was pretty bad, it was foggy then as I was about to depart it started raining. At times it was coming down at a pretty good clip. After getting east of San Antonio the weather began to improve but I was at least an hour later than I planned.
Then I was approaching Houston. Come to find out that they have torn up I10 just outside of Houston and they were diverting the traffic down to one lane (from 5) and off of I10 on to a side street. This held me up for at least two hours.
While waiting in traffic, I called the Escapee's RV Rainbow's End Park and found out that they had no full service sites available. This upset me a little because I called the Rainbow's End 4 or 5 days ago and the guy I talked to told me they had abut 1/2 their sites available.
I was a little disappointed because my mailing address has been Livingston Texas for the past 4 + years. You see I am a member of the Escapee's RV Club and use their mail forwarding service. It looks like I won't be going to my home of record this year.
While continuing to wait in traffic I decided that I was the Captain of this ship and that a command decision was needed. So I decided to press on through Houston toward Louisiana. I made it as far as Winnie, Texas (between Houston and Beaumont) . I checked in at the Winnie Inn & RV Park. However, the young lad that was tending the desk did not no if any sites were available for a week or not so I got a site for the night. I will check in the morning from the day person to see if there is room for the week.
I want to stay here in the Houston area (not too close because I don't like crowds) because one of my high priority tourist destinations is the Houston (Johnson) Space Center.
Stay tuned to this blog to see what happens.
