Departed the Denver area today. I really enjoyed my summer stay here in Denver. It was a little warmer than I normally like during the summer. But I followed the weather in Boise and by comparison Denver averaged about 10 degrees lower than Boise. That's better than being stuck where there were a bunch of days over a hundred.
I stayed just a few miles south of the Denver city center in a suburb called Englewood in an RV Park called the Flying Saucer RV Park. I found Englewood and nearby Sheridan to be nice places to stay. They had all my creature comforts, good grocery stores, coffee shops and they even had a Barnes and Noble Book Store and a Borders Books Store.
And if that wasn't enough they are close into Denver and the surrounding mountains. I was able to enjoy visiting my friend from Boise, Steve and my local clients Don and Jane.
All in all a very pleasant stay.
I departed the Denver area about 11:00 AM. My plan was to only go to Rawlins, Kansas. I arrived in Rawlins about 3:00 PM. It was a leisurely drive with little or no traffic. The only cities of any size I passed through were Fort Collins, Colorado, Cheyenne and Laramie, Wyoming. The Interstate passed on the outskirts of those cities so traffic was a breeze.
After arriving in Rawlins I found several RV Parks and decided to stay at the Western Hills Campground. It is a nice open and roomy RV Park. It looks like it is a nice place to stay for a night or two. There is a restaurant across the street so I will be able to have breakfast in the morning before I pull out.
I got settled in then started checking my internet and found that with Verizon I had BroadBand access here. That surprised me so I went to the coverage map at Verizon and found that they have added BroadBand access to a lot of knew places. I new they had just finished an upgrade to their service in July where I had to check my Pocket PC and BroadBand access card to make sure I had the latest connection software. But I didn't realize that they had expanded BroadBand access to so many new places. Halaluha!
While I'm at it let me say something about my Sprint service here in Rawlins. None, Nada, Zip! No service at all, no roaming no signal no nothing.
Anyway, tomorrow I plan on heading from Rawlins to Idaho Falls. I looked up on the internet and found a couple of RV Parks. I will check them out after I get into town and then decide whether the RV Park will be worth staying longer than overnight after I arrive. If I find a nice one I will stay at least a week.
While there I will scout up to Jackson Hole to see if I can find an RV Park and if there is I will move up there for a while. Oh by the way. Jackson Hole has BroadBand access service by Verizon.
