This past week has been an extremely busy work week for me. I have mentioned in the past that I have entered into a new business relationship with a big internet player. This past week was the first week into that new adventure. In a week or so I will discuss that business project in a little more detail. For now the project is just getting off the ground.
Though I was busy working I did take some time off to have a little fun. Friday afternoon I went to the Granada Theater and saw the latest Batman movie The "Dark Knight." I must say I really enjoyed the movie. Heath Ledger's portrayal of the Joker was a work of art. He was such an intense actor. He appeared to become the Joker. It is a tragedy and a great loss to the acting profession that he died this year.
All the actors, Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne / Batman, Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent / Two Face, Michael Caine as ever faithful Alfred, Maggie Gyllenhaal as Rachel Dawes and Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon. I first became aware of Gary Oldman when he played the heavy in Air Force One with Harrison Ford. He was such a sinister character in that movie, it was a treat to see him play a likeable character.
This week I also started reading the Batman Chronicles V. 1, which is a series of books that chronicles the first comic books of Batman starting with the very first Batman comic in May 1939. Also contained in this volume is the very first appearance of the Joker in 1940. These reprints are in color and are fun to read.
Also playing now is The Mummy 3 movie The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. I definitely want to watch it this week because movies, even blockbusters tend to only show for a couple of weeks. I don't want to miss it.
Then on Saturday morning I went to the Union County Fair held here in La Grande. It has been over 40 years since I last went to a Union Count Fair. I went early enough in the day to be well ahead of the crowd and was able to enjoy looking the various live stock on display.
So, even thought I have been working pretty hard, I still managed to enjoy the good life here in La Grande.
This week also marked an important event for me, I finally got the first 10 pounds off on my latest diet. In the past that first 10 has been the hardest. I finally decided a couple of weeks ago something had to change. Though I was down 20 pounds from the high I reached in 2005 I realized that I needed to a lot better than that. Wish me luck.
